The private seller offers for sale this 1926 Ford Model T Coupe, powered by a 2.9-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a two-speed planetary transmission. This is a so-called doctor’s coupe, the compact two-door closed body that was popular with professionals who needed a dependable, weatherproof car for daily rounds.
The Ford Model T, introduced in 1908, is the car that put the world on wheels. Henry Ford’s moving assembly line brought the price down year after year, and by the time production ended in 1927 more than fifteen million had been built. Its simple, robust 2.9-litre side-valve engine, its pedal-operated planetary gearbox and its high ground clearance suited the rough roads of the time, and the car was famously easy to repair. The coupe was one of the more refined body styles in the range and gives a good idea of how a well-to-do early motorist travelled.
According to the seller, this Model T has recently had its ignition, carburettor and starter motor overhauled, for which an invoice is available. The seller reports normal signs of use. The interior is fitted with a grey striped cloth bench seat, and the engine bay shows the typical layout of the Model T with its visible wiring and coil box. A genuine piece of motoring history that is also simple enough to maintain and enjoy.
Known issues according to the seller:
– The locks for the doors and the rear luggage compartment still need to be fitted, they are supplied with the car
– The car leaks oil, a well-known characteristic of the Ford Model T
– No odometer is fitted, as this was not standard equipment on the Model T
