'This painting, which ruminates on the life of an old fisherman and his beloved dog, is full of nautical imagery. The large and beautiful abstract on the right is Roger Hilton's May 1961. Below it, Bunt has included an old railway lamp, a model lighthouse and boats, and a vintage tin house. The window ledge is graced by Bunt's Alfred Wallis-inspired jug, a group of pebbles collected on the south coast, a copy of Virginia Woolf's experimental novel The Waves (1931), and a figure of a fisherman and his wife knitted by the artist's mother Ivy Bunt.'
