Griffin’s Auctioneers present their November Jewellery, Silver, Fine Art & Antiques sale. The jewellery includes an old cut diamond and pearl serpent necklace, a diamond set ‘turntable’ ring, a Victorian watch chain and a Georg Jensen silver bracelet, alongside gem-set rings, brooches, gold chains and pearls. Watches include examples by Omega, Tudor, Rotary and Longines. The silver includes a silver cutlery service, two Mappin & Webb tea services, a punch bowl, a tea kettle on stand and a group of inkwells and inkstands, as well as Sampson Mordan writing instruments. The fine art includes a felt pen study by L.S. Lowry, a 1946 watercolour by Abdur Rahman Chughtai and a lithograph of Windsor Castle by HM King Charles III. Prints include works by John Piper, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Peter Howson, Celia Paul and Alberto Giacometti. There is also a group of 18th and 19th century Indian gouaches and plaster maquettes by Eduardo Paolozzi. The furniture ranges from an oak coffer circa 1700, an early 18th century walnut bureau and a 17th or 18th century carved oak livery cupboard to an Ercol Giraffe room divider and chairs by Stewart Linford and Niels Koefoed. The sale also features early Worcester blue and white porcelain, Dutch Delft plaques, clocks, barometers, studio pottery and glass, taxidermy, and model locomotives and railwayana from the Hamilton Bantock collection.
