The first print of Bacon's description of nature in ten "centurias" with natural phenomena of various kinds appeared in London in 1621. The last part with the title Nova Atlantis, opus imperfectum "contains a description of the Island of Bensalem, on which there is a cooperative college of Science called Salomon's House ... it ranks among the bestknown and most delicious Utopian writings in the world and has been perhaps the most influential" (DSB I, 375).
