Ferber (1743-1790) provides reports of his travels from 1768 to 1769 to Holland, England and France and describes, among other things, the production of vitriol and vitrioleic acid, vaginal water, salmiak, cinnabar, green chip, varnish and red schmincke. "F. was a precise and sharp observer in mineralogical things and the physical geography owes him valuable contributions." (Gümbel in ADB VI, p. 630).
