In the 19th century, he became a number of independent English lecturers, "who offered courses and specialized knowledge on mechanical physics and machinery to many manufacturers, engineers and mechanics, who stood at the forefront of England's industrial transformation and was himself one of the main intellectual exponents of this process" (Soares p. 18). His "second book, 'A treatise on mills, in four parts', was a very specialized book with a profoundly mechanical, mathematical and experimental approach, mainly targeting professionals with vast knowledge on this field ... It contained a large number of problems and experiments about various aspects related to factors, machines and engines" (Soares p. 24). The German translation comes from the mathematician Chr. G.
