The first French edition was published in 1827 with only 144 pages, and the second edition was substantially expanded. The illustrations show equipment for the production of lithographic colours and chalk, accessories of the printer as well as four different presses, including one for satining. The publisher Johann Friedrich Ebner (1748-1825) took over the Steindruckerei founded in 1807 in Stuttgart by the "Pionier der Lithographie" (B.
