It is the result of a journey that Cancrin had undertaken after completing his mining education and his law degree in 1762. He describes a total of eighteen mines, including the silver and copper plants in Frankenberg, Rammelsberg, Zellerfeld, Freiberg, Annaberg and Saalfeld, the slate plants at Godelsheim, Thalitter, Riegelsdorf, Sangerhausen and in the county of Mansfeld, Eisenbergwerke near Hohenkirchen, Homberg and Schmalkalden, as well as the coal mines at Germerode am Weiser and Wettin. The plates with 76 instructive technical details, among others of the conveyor systems.
