The main educational work of the great physician and philanthropist. Brinckmann (1746-1785) shows that ancient pedagogy had been misunderstood in the humanistic educational concepts of his time, most unilaterally and in a manner that was not very appropriate to human nature. The writing was "welcome with joyful applause by the two bold newcomers in the field of pedagogy, Basedow and Campe. Campe immediately hired Brinckmann to work on his large educational collection (the General Revision), which was in preparation at that time" (ADB XLVII, 236). Similar to Basedow, Brinckmann was a representative of the eudemonist principle and determined as the ultimate educational goal the bliss, which lies in a happy and as all-round development of all the devices of the beggar.
