Very rare image documentation of the Berrima internation camp near the village of the same name about 130 kilometers southwest of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia, which served as a prisoner of war camp for German sailors and Germans living in Australia from 1915 to 1919, documented by local photographer D. Speer (no life data known). The nearly 100 photos show the lives of the detainees - surprisingly free and partly illustrious - who were allowed to move up to two kilometers from the prison building, water sports, a swimming pool and leisure huts built, music and plays performed, a band founded, horticulture and built a bakery, whose products they sold at the weekly market.
