Empty photo album with 9 cardboard leaves, covered with linen and brocade lines and with fine silk painting around the punchings. A total of 52 recesses for the use of photographs. 28 x 35 cm. East Asia around 1900. The elaborately designed top plate shows a handsome eagle sitting on a maple branch. Its plumage shimmers blue, surrounded by flowers, leaves, and stylized clouds; a smaller bird in flight is depicted above. Inside, the album is lined with fine silk painting that frames the prefabricated, punched compartments, partly oval, partly angular. The silk paintings show botanical motifs as well as lake landscapes. – With traces of usage, infestations, scraps and rubbed. Inside in good condition.
