The twelve illustrations show various torture methods carried out on slaves and Kulis, so-called day laborers. ==References== In the 19th century, mostly young men and women from Asiatic regions were abducted or lured under false promises and later sold into global trade. Since the Congress of Vienna in 1814, the slave trade has been banned worldwide, and Europe and America, in particular, lacked cheap labor forces, so that the new trade with the "Kulis" could establish itself. The depictions of torture impressively show under what conditions and in what state these "workers" had to live and at the same time what a cruel and lengthy process the abolition of slavery was and still is. – A little sticky, tablets partly a little loose and occasionally rubbed something (no loss of representation).
