Obroschur (stronger stained, rubbed and toasted) with red title sign on the Vdeckel. Japan, Meiji time, around 1885-1890. Musha-e woodcut sequence showing dramatically staged battle scenes. The narrative portrayals show their protagonists, samurai and commanders in armor and on horseback, in thunderstorms, in nightly scenery or by the sea. – Leporello separated into two parts (each 5 assembled). Interior mirror with newer Sepia entries. Slightly clean cracks at the folds, slightly tanned due to paper. The woodcuts overall well preserved, fresh in color and with only very isolated tiny punctures.
