Wüthrich III, 63rd – First edition. Parts I and III were published in 1743 and 1759. The beautiful copper of Mätthaeus Merian show views of sieges, sea and land battles as well as city plans. The theologian, translator, author, editor and proofreader Johann Ludwig Gottfried (1584-1633) came into contact with the publishing house de Bry through his Latin retelling of Ovid's metamorphoses in Oppenheim and worked there among other things as an employee of Matthäeus Merian the Elder. – A little brown and finger stained, especially in the edge area partly more tanned and with marginal lesions. The majority of the cards, however, are well preserved, rarely cracks, the representations usually not affected. The map Plursium 1618 with a deposited tear (between pp. 16 and 17). Occasionally bend marks as well as tiny wormholes in the last register layers. Overall well-preserved specimen with beautiful plates.
