Description
Approx. Ø50mm, approx. 133g, American "True-Hinge" premium case in extremely solid quality, Omega chronometer movement Grade DDR with 23 stones, signed Louis Brandt & Frere, No. 2618611, original enamel dial, signed Brandt, steel pointer, functional, sensational, almost new condition of the case, with original box. The term Omega Grade DDR in connection with the Canadian railway is one of the most exclusive and precise pocket watches in watch history. The abbreviation "DDR" does not refer to the German Democratic Republic, but refers to the highest quality level (grade) of clock movements produced by Omega between 1905 and 1911. These extremely rare chronometers were officially approved for service by Canadian railway companies such as the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) due to their extreme gait accuracy. Only 900 of these chronometers were manufactured to meet the requirements of observatory chronographs.
