Description
Approx. Ø49mm, approx. 92,3g, 18K gold, extremely rare special shape of the case, on both sides riffled edge à-goutte, very solid quality, Tavernier casemaker punch No 2487, Breguetpunze 1844, dust cover signed Bregueth 1844. Ruby cylinder movement with quarter repetition, original enamel dial with secret signature Breguest 1844; Breguete steel pointer, tiny chip on the dial fitting, otherwise excellently preserved and functional. Lt. Breguet certificate sold in 1806 for 1800 francs to Monsieur Stefanaki. This housing version is extremely rare. The watch is similar to the technically identical No. 1736 by Prince Troubetzkoi, which was auctioned in 1991 for 42,000 Swiss francs. It is probably the case that this housing has been specially manufactured for Eastern European customers. Prince Stefanaki was an important Breguet customer and bought several important Breuet watches. Knjaz Stefan Bogoridi, called Stefanaki Bey (Prince Stefanaki): Stefan Bogoridi was born in 1775 in Kotel and died on 1 January 1775. ==References====External links== He was a grandson of Sophronius of Wraza, brother of Atanas Bogoridi and father of Aleksandar and Nikola Bogoridi. Stefan Bogoridi was a phanariot, Bulgarian, foreign policy advisor to two sultans and a member of the Tanzimat Council. As a young boy, he was sent by his family to Bucharest to the famous Colegiul Sfântul Sava, where he replaced his birth name Stojko by Stefan. He took the name Bogoridi in honor of Tsar Boris I. After completing his education, Bogoridi worked as a teacher in Istanbul for several years. Bogoridi joined the Ottoman Navy in 1799 as Dragoman. In 1812 he was brought to Moldova by Prince Scarlat Callimachi. He served there until 1819 as prefect of Galați on the lower Danube, where a large Bulgarian exile community lived. During the Filiki Eteria and the subsequent Greek Revolution, Bogoridi led Walachia from the autumn of 1821 to July 1822 as Kaymakam (a kind of governor). In 1822, he was appointed Kamaikam of the Principality of Moldova. Between 1823 and 1828 he was again Dragoman in the Ottoman fleet. After the Russian-Osmanian War (1828–1829), he participated in the negotiations for the peace of Adrianopel as a member of the Ottoman delegation. He was appointed foreign policy advisor by Sultan Mahmud II for his services. In the next 30 years he took part in all the important decisions and negotiations of the High Gate. Stefan Bogoridi was one of the signatories to the London Protocol, which sealed the sovereignty of Greece. During this time Sultan Mahmud II raised Mahmoud II. Bogoridi zum Knjaz (German: Fürst; Turkish: Bey). In 1834 he was appointed by the Sultan as administrator of the island of Samos. Bogoridi renamed the capital of Vathy Island in Stefanopolis. Under Abdülmecid I. Bogoridi remained not only advisor to the Sultan, he became a member of the Tanzimat Council. He was considered one of the most influential reformers and influenced the conversion of the Millet system so that it guaranteed the non-Muslim population in the Ottoman Empire more rights.
