COINS OF THE ROMAN CAISER TIME. Claudius, 41-54 for Nero Claudiu's Drusus. AV-Aureus, 41/45, Rome; 7,79 g. Head l. with oak wreath//Vexillum between crossed shields, spears and trumpets. BMC 104; Calicó 317; Coh. 5; RIC2 73; of Kaenel type 13. Very nice Exemplary of the auction Hirsch 19, Munich 1958, Nr. 306. Nero Claudius Drusus was the son of Livia and thus stepson of Augustus. In order to tie him even more closely to himself and to designate him as a potential successor, Augustus Drusus married Antonia minor. This was the daughter of Marcus Antonius and Octavias, Augustus' sister. Among other things, the later emperor Claudius emerged from the marriage. Drusus went through the first stages of the cursus honorum at a young age and was 15 B.C. He was sent to Raetia with his older brother Tiberius, the later emperor, to establish the structures of a Roman province. ==References====External links== ==References====External links==* Official website Dio 55, 10). In the years 12 to 9 B.C. Drusus was involved in the campaigns against the Germans in which he gained much military fame. The positive connotation of his person in the sources (Suet. Claud. 2-3). Claudius followed the positive memories associated with his father's name with this coinage. Part of this almost mythical worship was certainly the early death of Drusus in 9 B.C. Augustus's hope for a successor was disappointing.
