Hauswedell-Voigt II, 89. – First edition of the famous fairy tale, which is also one of the most sought after collectors' objects in German literature because of its beautiful illustrations based on Brentano's designs. Exemplary with the plates in the second printing state, clearly on the board integrated between the pages 96 and 97, which now has the added motto "No doll, but only a beautiful art figure" in the triangle above the stretched screen. The lovely Titellithography is by J. N. Strixner, the other illustrations were drawn by Kaspar Braun, some probably also by Maximiliane Pernelle, on the stone. "Free of all formal limitations, the poet lets his fabulatory imagination wander ... At the highlights of the fairy tale, e.g. when the animals can suddenly speak, ... the narrating prose suddenly turns into popular verses.
