The drama inspired by Brentano's two-year stay in Bohemia, which deals with the freedom struggle of the Czechs. "The drama made an excellent contribution to the romantic-born national myth of a Czech-Slavic period" (KLL). In this variant, "the mythical motif of the fight of the white against the black magic, which ends with the battle of the light gods, almost grows the Libussa-Primislav theme" (Frenzel, Fabrics, p. 438).
