The successful collections, soon translated into several languages, "created a fashion and added European fame and the name of Griechenmüller to their author. The elegiac-pathetic poems worked up to the dedicated pre-marc poetry" (NDB XVIII, 321). Müller's "Greek Songs became at that time a spiritual power which benefited the Greek cause (the liberation struggle of the Greeks from the Turkish yoke) more than some so-called confederates" (ADB XXII, 692). In 1824 a volume of the latest songs of the Greeks appeared. – Weakly stained and tanned, partly uncut. Interior mirror with mounted exlibris.
