The very precious volume, designed by his editor, the Rotterdam writer David Fransz van Hoogstraten (1658-1724), is dedicated to the Nassau prince Johann Wilhelm Friso (1687-1711)" (Fabula docet 42 catalogue). The beautiful copper plates by Jan van Vianen (1660-1703) each with six depictions in medallion form to the individual fables. – The folding copper with the portrait of the dedication recipient Johann Wilhelm Friso is missing. Stronger spotty specimen, especially in the margin. Some layers are also slightly untied. The copper title dissolved in the lower bow as well as with closed edge tear.
