Cf. to the building history: Eckholdt: Rivers and canals 458ff. – The journey is represented by three magnificently decorated ships, which are admired and cheered by festively dressed spectators on both sides, a pedestrian bridge as well as in the railway, which crosses another of the striking stone bridge. The conclusion is a panorama of Nuremberg, to which other ships and rafts move. On the title sign on the left is very likely Bamberg and on the right certainly Nuremberg with a railway. The central monument bears a bust crowned with laurel by King Louis I, who had already commissioned the planning shortly after his accession to the throne in 1825. It comes from the famous Bavarian architect Heinrich von Pechmann. Construction began in July 1836. – Few small flaws or cracks in the punchings.
