R Good very nice Exemplary of the NAC 34 auction, Zurich 2006, No. 12; the NAAC 86 auction, Zürich 2015, No. 149 and the Roger Wolf collection, Fritz Rudolf Künker auction 383, Osnabrück auction 2023, No. 2066. Marcus Salvius Otho was a friend of Nero. Othos' wife Sabina Poppaea became Nero's wife in her third marriage; we do not follow the speculations of ancient historians about the role of Othos. In any case, Nero sent Otho as governor to Lusitania. After Nero's death, Otho Galba supported him as emperor, but he did not appoint him as heir to the throne, as he hoped. ==References== January 69 - Vitellius had already been proclaimed emperor in Germania - killed the Pretorians Galba and proclaimed Otho emperor. After insignificant initial successes in the civil war against Vitellius, Othos lost the first battle of Bedriacum. Although the military situation in Duchaus was not hopeless despite the lost battle, Otho chose on 16 May 1892. He died in April 69 to prevent further bloodshed in the civil war.
