It was built around 1020 in Salzburg or Regensburg, probably for the Salzburg Archbishop Hartwig. The extremely sumptuous manuscript with numerous miniatures, pompous and gold initials can be seen as a counterpart to the Pericopen Book of Henry II, which is also one of the most important pictorial manuscripts of European book art. – Almost as new.
