Westphalia 17. ==References== Extensive Lower German chronicle of the diocese of Münster with ongoing history and succession of the bishops of Münster ("Catalogus Episcoporum"). Already the beginning explicitly mentions one: "Cronica offn Catalogus Episcoporum Mimigardevordensium" i.e. a chronicle or a list of the bishops of Mimigardeford, the old name of Münster. In chronological order, the manuscript deals with the bishops of Münster, including Saint Liudgard ("Sanctus Ludgerus the First Bischop"), Otto of Hoya, Florentius, Conradus and other holders of the High Monastery. The text combines historical news, biographical notes and events of the diocese's history in the lower German vernacular with individual Latin passages. Particularly remarkable is the consistently Westphalian-LowerGerman language form with characteristic Forms such as "dat", "unde", "tho", "Bischop", "Boick", "geboron" etc. The codex thus stands in the tradition of the late medieval bishopric chronology of Münster, but should not represent a pure compilation from Latin, but an independent national language adaptation or tradition. The writing is a late medieval Lower German Bastarda/Italicsive. Equipment deliberately simple without rebriefings or executed initials, which suggests a functional historical usage manuscript and not a representative show manuscript volume. Such work codes often preserve rare or unique text versions of regional chronistics. – Paper slightly tanned, finger stained, isolated spots, older corrections or notes as marginals, few blue ink wipers, but remarkable overall closed and easy to read.
