Until now unknown, unpublished transcription of a case collection of the Jena physician Georg Wedel Wedel, Georg Wolfgang. "Collegium casuale practice. Noo: 1 [and:] No: 2'. Latin and German manuscript of two hands on paper. 2 parts in 1 volume. 20,8 x 17 cm. Layers over frets, without cover. Possibly Jena 1696. This manuscript may be a collection of cases at lectures by the well-known Jenaer Mediziner and chemist G. W. Wedel (1645-1721). - Part 1 begins with a brief preface "A Jove Principium. / Dictum hoc m. ad Medicum spectat, si qvidem in curationibus suis se vult felicem. Praeces a. Medico dicatas vid: ap: Mart: Rulandium in curationibus it: aps: Gregor: Horstium Formula talis ee [?] poset." It contains 24 casus, which are structured as follows: According to the medical history, which may also be based on written communications from the patient, follows a "responsio", to which formulas with indication of the ingredients and instructions for use follow. Some Casu contain several medical stories, so that more cases than Casu are described overall. A striking feature of this part is the increasing reference to the work "Opera medico-surgica ... omnia" by Johann Michaelis (1606-1667; published in Nuremberg 1688). Some Responsesii are also referred to as "Methodus s. cura Wedelii", "Curatio Wedeliii" or similar. - The table of contents lists among other things: Foemina ischuria laborans à Calculo, Epilepsia infantilis, Vertigo, Varioli & morbilli, Arthritis, Lues, Puerpera doloribus post partem, Dysenteria, De Fluore albo, De passione hysterica, De convulsione colli. - Part 2 contains 35 casus, but does not appear to be to be complete (strips of books rise above the book block). This part no longer deals with Michaelis's work, but is identical (and much better readable). With e.g. the following diseases: Colica ex cardiolia, De Mania, Semiparalysis, Insultus Epilepticus, Asthma Hypochondriaco, Lues venera in infante, Scorbutus Oris, Passio Hysteriaca, Variolae, Vertigo, Melancholia Hypochondria and Passio hyster. c. Fluore albo. - A comparable work by Wedel (but only in Latin) is the Compendium Praxeos Clinicae Exemplaris (Jena 1706 u. 1707), which, however, does not contain identical cases or recipes. - "We take the ... Lectures that Wedel was ultimately a physician who, starting from Galenian writings, always emphasized the practice and his own experience and moderated the chemical teachings in Jena. He was an excellent pharmacist, who knew the numerous drugs, liked them to be simple or assembled, well known, also in their dangerousness, and always had the well-being of his patients in mind." Faculty of Jena, p. 174ff. - In the lecture drawings of the University of Jena digitized by the THULB of the corresponding years there is no obvious reference to a "Collegium casuale" Wedels. - Condition: – The first location loose, slightly tanned, especially at the edges, ink partly a bit piercing, some bullet-through sheets not complete, partly with lead and. crayons (especially on the empty leaves). In part 2 a situation with the Casu 9 to 12 and the end is missing. Part 1 to p. 12 with smaller brown spots. Traces of use, stains, cracks, shot through. Part 1: The first leaf with wormweed-damaged entry: "G. W. W. / Casuale Aoo 1696 / C [?] Noo: 1." An empty sheet follows, 122 pp., 2 Bl. with index (recto Bl. 1) and "Tabula de methodo consultandi epistolari renunciatoria." (verso Bl. 1 and Bl. Part 2: Cover page: Collegium Casuale / Practice. W.
