A 740. – First edition of the important book on the Trinity of the Church Father Augustine from the Lyonnese Office of Jacques Sacon, which was commissioned by the famous Nuremberg publisher Johann Koberger. It is an early example of the increasingly international relations and distribution systems in the area of the relatively new medium "print" and an impressive testimony of Franco-German cooperation. The work was financed and commissioned by Johann Koberger the Elder (1454-1543), the cousin of the important printer Anton Koberger, who sold the work printed by Jacques Sacon. In the colophone, both printers call themselves publishers: "Jmpressi lugduni ere et impressis circumspecti viri Joannis koburger civis Nurembergensis. Arte tamen ac pervigili cura Industrij viri Jacobi saccon. Anno virginei partus quingentesimo super millesimum secundo Kalendas Augustas". In the tradition of the "Magister cum dicipulis", the beautiful scenic title woodcut shows the Holy Father at the desk and in front of him a naked child who emptys a plate with a spoon, an iconographic symbol of the incomprehensibleness of God and the limits of the human mind. From 1504, Koberger had changed his concert from the printer to the publisher and publisher business and had more and more printed on various printers in Europe, such as Jacques Sacon in Lyon. Lyon was the second most important printing centre in France at that time after Paris.
