For a long time Mynsinger was Chancellor of the Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and is considered the founder of the so-called "cameralist jurisprudence", which is important for the systematization of early modern law. His close friend Joachim Schiller von Herdern (1506-1555) worked as a doctor and pharmacist in Freiburg.
