In addition to the Liber adhortatorius adversus gentes contains Clemens' main work Stromateis, in which he tries to demonstrate the fundamental compatibility of Greek philosophy and Christian faith and the epistemological superiority of the latter, as well as the writing of Paidagogogoó, in whom he develops the idea of a divine pedagogy. The early Christian philosopher and church writer Clement of Alexandria (c. 150-215) made an important contribution in his writings to the reception of Platonic philosophy in the Christian doctrine of the faith. The beautiful printer brand by Michel Sonnius shows a snake above a blazing fire, held by a cloud-poor, as a symbol of divine protection. – A little brownish, the first two sheets of the index with a small hole in the set mirror (minimum letter loss).
