Adam's M 67. See STC 295 and 114. – Rare Lyonese print of the two main manuscripts of the Roman New Platonician and Grammarist Macrobius (about 385/390 - after 430). The Saturnalia describe the conversations idealizing the scholarship of that time during a symposion, the comment on Cicero's writing Scipio's dream, which was separately handed down by Macrobius, was one of the most popular writings of antiquity in the Middle Ages. – First layers with wormholes, titles in the side border with painted old entry, otherwise only slightly tanned and slightly flecky. With the beautiful woodcut representation of the world on sheet i8 (verso). Exemplary in the richly decorated pig leather band with classic and virtue roll on both covers, in the middle fields each with the (strongly oxidized) gold-embossed representation of a lion with ball and cross, the Christian symbol for the rule of the world.
