See Poggendorff 1069 (first edition of 1537). – Richly illustrated edition of Tartaglias (1499-1557) basic writing "Nova Scientia", whose first print appeared in 1537. It is considered the first published treatise on ballistics in general and is thus a milestone in the theory of movement, which later led to the findings of Galileo and other pioneers. The title page shows a large-format woodcut with the coat of arms of Francesco Maria II della Roveres, Duke of Urbino. Among them an almost full-page allegorical representation, in which Tartaglia appears in the center of various - female personified - scientific disciplines, surrounded by authorities of antiquity such as Euclid, Aristotle and Plato. – The missing summary panel is supplemented by a copy.
