The picture bible is decorated with particularly pretty and gratis copper engravings by Jan and Casper Luyken, among others. "Jan Luyke's perspectives and his light and fine needle technique in Rembrandt's style have a high artistic value" (Faber du Faur). The first edition still without plate numbering and with dedication in German to Joseph I. Bauer probably already erroneously indicates for the first edition a total number of 259 plates. – There is a lack of copper plates. Title drawn up on paper, reinforced on the inner bridge and a bit flaky. Altogether brown and finger stained, with deposited cracks.
