Berlin 2589. – Vignola (1507-73) was a trained painter who only came to architecture through the study of antiquity. He was a member of the "Vitruvian Academy", which was founded in 1542. In the tradition of Vitruv, he demands a clear rule-making as the basis of every building activity. His "tract" on the five column orders (1563: "Regola delli cinque ordini d'architettura") was because, apart from a brief introduction, he contained copper plates exclusively for himself, "up to the 19th, partly in the 20th century. In the 19th century, the most widely used architectural textbook in general, formed a basis for teaching at the architecture schools" (Kruft). Here is one of several editions of the German edition by the obrist J. R. Fäsch, which appeared for the first time around 1720.
