This translation is only the second German translation of this important work after the "Vitruvius Teutsch" by Walter Hermann Rivius (Ryff) from 1548. As "Beylage", Rode added the chapter from Julius Pollux' Onomasticon (with Carl August Böttiger's notes) to his edition. That Rodes Vitruv edition in the vicinity of Prince Leopold Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau and his architect Fr. W. v. Erdmannsdorff (to whom Rode has dedicated the edition) and thus emerged almost simultaneously with the classicistic creations in Dessau and Wörlitz, is certainly no coincidence. – Strongly tanned and spotted.
