The so-called Berlin Book of Hours of Mary of Burgundy is a richly illuminated prayer book written between 1477 and 1480 in Ghent on behalf of Emperor Maximilian I (1459-1519), which the Emperor of his bride, Mary of Bourgogne (1457-1482), venerated as a dowry. The book contains 27 full - page and 47 smaller miniatures with biblical scenes as well as 16 pages with a particularly rich and plastic border decoration of flowers, buds, acanthus and butterflies. The commentary with contributions by Fedja Anzelewsky, Eberhard König, Bodo Brinkmann and Frauke Steenbock. The enclosed documentation with publishing brochure and two sample double pages of the facsimiles. – Very well preserved.
