A striking Epiphone Les Paul Nuclear Extreme electric guitar from the short-lived E-Series, made in Korea in 2001, serial number U01050218. Featuring the distinctive yellow and dark green/black crackle finish, single-cutaway Les Paul body, bound rosewood fingerboard with unusual geometric/Art Deco-style pearloid position markers and the distinctive E-Series headstock with winged Epiphone emblem. Fitted with a pair of original-style Epiphone E-Series Ultra Hot humbucking pickups, each with engraved Epsilon "E" covers, three-way Rhythm/Treble pickup selector, twin volume and twin tone controls, Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, with chrome Epiphone-branded machine heads. The Nuclear Extreme formed part of Epiphone's more experimental output at the beginning of the 2000s, combining traditional Les Paul construction with deliberately unconventional finishes and styling. Produced for only a relatively short period, these guitars are considerably less commonly encountered than contemporary Epiphone Les Paul Standards and have subsequently attracted a following amongst collectors of unusual Epiphone models.
