Active

Description

A vintage Höfner Verithin Bigsby semi acoustic electric guitar, believed to date from the early 1960s, finished in cherry red with a distinctive thin hollow body and double cutaway design. Featuring two pickups, twin soundholes, a black pickguard, four cream control knobs, an adjustable bridge and a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. The headstock bears the Höfner name with decorative floral inlay, whilst the interior retains its original manufacturer's label identifying the model as 'Verithin Bigsby', numbered 2963. Manufactured during the golden age of British beat music, the Höfner Verithin became a popular alternative to more expensive American electric guitars. Its distinctive styling, lightweight construction and characteristic vintage sound made it an appealing instrument to musicians during the 1960s, and surviving examples continue to attract interest from collectors and players alike. An attractive example of a classic 1960s electric guitar, retaining considerable period character. Condition: General age related wear, including surface scratches, marks, rubbing and extensive lacquer checking and crazing. The Bigsby vibrato tailpiece is missing its operating arm. Category: Collectables/Musical instruments Estimate: 600 GBP
