First edition of the history of the Cathedral of Palermo with a single passage in a registered auction (RBH); in the thirteen books the author reconstructs, on the basis of documents, inscriptions and antique testimonies, the origins of the Palermo Church, supporting its foundation by Saint Peter the Apostle, and traces the evolution of the cathedral from the early Christian basilicas to The Norman building. Ample space is dedicated to architecture, relics, burial monuments of the emperors and sovereigns of Sicily. In the appendix is published for the first time the "Historia sui temporis" of Bartolomeo di Neoastro (ca. 1240-1294) important Sicilian chronicle of the thirteenth century. Folio (275 x 195mm) with a final appendix containing Historia sui temporis di Bartolomeo di Neoastro (some slight marginal halo). 19th century bonding in half leather with title and gold decorations on the back, yellow cuts (light defects).
