First edition of the monumental official publication of the Real Museo Borbonico, the most important illustrated catalogue of the collections of the current National Archaeological Museum of Naples. Produced by numerous scholars under the patronage of the Bourbon court, the work systematically documents the main antiquities preserved in the museum, with particular regard to the finds from the excavations of Pompeii, Herculaneum and other Vesuvius sites. The numerous calcographic and lithographic tables reproduce paintings, mosaics, sculptures, bronzes, vases, gems and objects of daily life, still today constituting a fundamental testimony to the state of the Neapolitan archaeological collections in the first half of the nineteenth century. 16 volumes, 4to (265 x 190mm).
