A study copy of the famous Summa Angelica, enriched by the additions of the Dominican Girolamo Tornielli. Among the most fortunate manuals of moral theology and canon law of the late fifteenth century, the work of the Franciscan Angelo Carletti da Chivasso knew an extraordinary European diffusion since the Venetian princess of 1476, imposing itself as an indispensable instrument of consultation for confessors, preachers and ecclesiastical lawyers. Organized in alphabetic form, the Summa systematically addresses and discusses the main cases of conscience, examining questions of a moral, juridical and pastoral nature, from adultery to simony, from concubine to usury, from slander to witchcraft, offering for each case the interpretation of canonical doctrine and of the main medieval theologians.
