Second volume, which contains among others the Sidereus Nuncius and the Saggiatore, of the most important eighteenth-century edition of Galileo's works, edited by Abbot Giuseppe Toaldo, astronomer and mathematician of the University of Padua. Reworked on the basis of the Florentine edition of 1718, it represents the first scientifically organized collection of Galilean writings, enriched by numerous unpublished texts and a new order for subjects. The second tome includes, in addition to the Sidereus Nuncius, the Saggiatore and studies on sunspots, scientific letters addressed to different correspondents and intellectuals. 4to (260 × 190 mm). Astronomical illustrations in the text, capilettera, headboards and xylographic finishes, in beards (sporadic blooms).
