Organized in annalistic form, the Annals of Italy reconstruct the history of the peninsula from its origins until 1749, based on a vast heritage of handwritten and printed sources, many of which have already been collected and published by the Muratori himself in the Rerum Italicarum Scriptores. The work marked a turning point in Italian historiography for the rigorous critical method adopted in the analysis of sources and remained for over a century the main reference point for the study of national history. 12 volumes in 10 tomes, 4to (250 × 170 mm).
