First edition of the fundamental treaty of naval tactics of Spanish Admiral José de Mazarredo Salazar, among the most eminent figures of the Spanish Navy that fought the American War of Independence and the Napoleonic Wars. Drafted as manual destined to the formation of the subordinate officers of the Real Armada, the work represents one of the first systematic attempts to codify the maneuvers of the fleet according strictly scientific and mathematical criteria, contributing to the renewal of the Spanish naval doctrine in the years immediately before the American War of Independence. The work, illustrated by 40 folded tables, is printed by Joaquín Ibarra, unanimously considered the greatest Spanish printer of the eighteenth century, and is among the most elegant examples of Spanish typographical art of the 18th century. 4th (240 × 180 mm). 40 tables folded, wide margins (small gora of water at the upper edge of the first 10 tables).
