Fine photographic portrait of Giuseppe Verdi, embellished by an autograph dedicate dated 1891: "Alla Signorina Sofia Villa" followed by the composer's signature. Created by the historical photographic studio Pagliano and Ricordi of Milan, one of the most prestigious in 19th century Italy, the portrait belongs to the period of the full artistic maturity of Verdi, in the years immediately preceding the composition of Falstaff.
