The overlapping faces on the reverse create a striking visual effect, producing an optical illusion that immediately catches the eye. Such experimentation is highly unusual in Greek coinage. This innovative composition reveals that Mytilene employed talented engravers who were not only technically skilled but also open to artistic experimentation.
